Yellow Moong Dal

Ingredients:

  • Yellow split moong dal
  • cumin or pachforan seeds
  • dry red chilli
  • bay leaf
  • ginger paste
  • turmeric powder
  • salt
  • pinch of sugar or sugar free
  • oil
  • butter

Cooking Method:

Heat a little oil in a vessel. Add cumin or pachforan seeds and see them splutter. Add bay leaf, dry red chilli , little ginger paste and saute.

Add washed moong dal, salt, pinch of sugar and turmeric powder. Add enough water, mix and bring to a boil in high flame.

Cover and cook in low flame until the dal is ready. Whisk it to get a smooth consistency. Water added according to desired consistency. Add a little butter, mix and serve with rice or bread.

Cauliflower, potato with roasted masala

Ingredients:

  • Cauliflower
  • potato
  • lime
  • roasted masala
  • chilli powder
  • salt
  • oil
  • lime

Cooking Method:

Cut cauliflower and potato in very small cubes. Heat some oil in a vessel. To this add the washed cauliflower and potato pieces, add salt anf fry well in low flame.

Add chilli powder and enough water to make a dry prep. Bring the mixture to a boil, Cover and cook in low flame for about 5 min.

Open the lid, dry off excess water. Sprinkle roasted masala and lime juice. Mix well and serve with chapati. This prep can be used in between bread in a sandwich toaster.

Musoor dal with raw mango powder

Ingredients:

  • Musoor dal
  • mustard seeds
  • dry red chilli
  • turmeric
  • raw mango powder
  • salt
  • pinch of sugar free powder
  • oil

Cooking Method:

Warm some oil in a vessel, add little mustard seeds and dry red chilli as seasoning.

Add the musoor dal, some, turmeric, raw mango powder, salt and little sugar free. Add enough water, bring to a boil, partially cover and cook in low flame till the dal is cooked and has the right consistency.

Potato with roasted jeera powder

Ingredients:

  • Potato
  • onion
  • roasted jeera powder
  • raw mango (amchur) powder
  • chilli powder
  • salt
  • oil

Cooking Method:

Cut potatoes in medium size cubes. Finely grate onion. Heat some oil in a vessel and fry the potatoes with little salt till light brown, then keep aside.

Then fry the onion till brown. Mix some raw mango and chilli powder with little water and pour in the vessel. Saute for a little while.

Add fried potatoes, salt and enough water to make a dry prep. When the mixture comes to a boil, cover and cook in low flame, till the potatoes are cooked. Dry off excess water to make a dry prep. Add some roasted jeera powder, mix and serve with bread.
